Dr. Feifei Jiang offically joins us and serves as an Associate Professor. Dr. Jiang received a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University and a doctor's degree from Purdue University. HIs main research field is dental computational biomechanics.

[2021-02-01] Congratulations！Our paper entitled "A Mechanism-image Fusion Approach to Calibration of An Ultrasound-guided Dual-arm Robotic Brachytherapy System" has been published at IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics Journal.
This paper presents a mechanism-image fusion approach to calibration of a US-guided dual-arm robotic brachytherapy system. With this approach, no tracker or complex phantom is needed as the dual-arm robotic system can use one arm as a substitute for tracker and phantom to calibrate the other arm.
[2020-12-04] An Inter-governmental Cooperative Science and Technology Project, Ministry of Science and Technology, China completes final reply.
The project has successfully completed the contract indicators, and some indicators have been overfulfilled.
[2020-09-02] Prof. Xia was invited to serve as the special editor board member of the Robot magazine for the speical issue on "medical robtoic technology".
This special issue will collect the latest research achievements and progress on medical robotics. The deadline is Nov. 30th. It is planned to publish at issue 2 in March 2021. Researchers in related fields are welcome to contribute.

[Dec. 2019] Prof. Xia was awarded the honorary of "Excellent Member Award, Youth Innovation Promotion Association, Chinese Academy of Sciences".
The winner of Excellent Member Award also received a special talent fund of RMB 3 Million. Normally the member funding period is four years. After that, excellent members will be selected, who will be continuously provided a special talent fund from RMB 2 to 4 million supporting research to accelerate their growth into academic leaders.
[Sep. 2019] Congratulations！Our paper entitled "Optimal Design of Soft Pneumatic Bending Actuators Subjected to Design-Dependent Pressure Loads" has been published on IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics Journal.
An optimal design framework of SPBAs to resolve the design-dependent load problem using an adaptive bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization method was purposed in this paper.
[Aug. 2019] Prof. Xia was awarded the honorary of "Xiong Youlun Zhihu Excellent Youth Scientist Award".
The CCRS 2019 was held at Shenyang, from 8th to 10th Aug. 2019. Prof. Xia won the "Xiong Youlun Zhihu Excellent Youth Scientist Award". Ding Han, academician of CAS and Prof. of HUST, presented the award to the winners.
The IEEE RCAR 2019 was held successfully at Irkutsk, Russia, from 4th to 9th Aug. 2019. This year, more than 270 papers were submitted to the conference, and more than 200 researchers from 14 countries and regions were attended. The conference is sponsored by SIAT/CAS, Prof. Xia is the General Chair and our team organized this event.
Our team attended the IEEE RoboSoft 2019 held at COEX, Seoul, Korea, from 14th to 18th Apr. 2019. During this conference, Prof. Xia conducted in-depth exchanges with many attended researchers. Soft robotics is a recent exciting trend of robotics, and our team also has been working on and made progresses on the theories, technologies and applications of soft medical robotics.
A hike and teambuilding activity for our team — a great idea to get colleagues interacting in a different environment other than the office, and a great chance to build stronger relationships within the team.
[Dec. 2018] Our team participated in the 2018 annual Conference of Chinese Robotics Society (CCRS 2018) and Prof. Xia gave a report at the conference session.
The CCRS 2018 was held at Wuhan from 8th to 10th Dec. 2018. “Tri-Co Robot Changes Our Lives” is the theme of the conference. Team members attended the forum and had deep communications with other scholars. Prof. Xia gave a report on “Robotics for Precisions Orthodontics” at the “Robotics for Rehabilitation and Medical Treatment” session.
[Nov. 2018] Prof. Xia was elected vice chairman of the Young Scientists Club of China Electronic Institute, and chairman on duty in 2021.
The general meeting of Young Scientists Club of China Electronic Institute was held in Xi’an from 16th to 17th, Nov. 2018. Prof. Xia was elected vice chairman of the 2nd board of the Young Scientists Club of the China Electronic Institute and chairman on duty in 2021.
Prof. Xia will be the General Chair of the Conference. A short time ago, in the IEEE RCAR 2018, Prof. Xia sent a warm invitation to academic community to welcome everyone to participate in the IEEE RCAR 2019.
This challenge provides an international platform to showcase soft robotics research and aims to promote state of the art developments in soft robots, and to encourage development of soft robots with on-field applicability. Our team got an award in this challenge for previous research in Soft Robotics.

Our team was awarded the 7th Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology award (Natural Science). This award is acclaimed as the top award of Chinese Intelligence Science and Technology. It is a scientific and technological award with non-governmental support and is addressed as the highest award in Chinese artificial intelligence.

Team members visited Prof. Hiroshi Yokoi’s laboratory at The University of Electro-Communications, Japan, for the cooperative research of the National Key R&D Plan "Inter-governmental Cooperative Science and Technology Project" (China-Japan).
The 11th International Conference on Computer Vision Systems (ICVS 2017) aims to gather researchers and developers from both academia and industry worldwide and to explore the state of the art and the prospects of vision systems.
During the WRC 2017, the Young Scientist on Robotics Forum was held on the afternoon of August 25, 2017. The forum was organized by Young Scientists Club, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and co-organized by SIAT, CAS and Tsinghua University. Prof. Zeyang Xia served as the chair of the forum.
[Jul. 2017] Prof. Xia chaired the panel discussion at CCF-GAIR 2017: How will robots change the industry?
CCF-GAIR 2017 was held at Shenzhen, July 7-9, 2017. About 3,000 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from home and abroad participated in the summit. During the summit, a roundtable discussion with the theme of "Robots change the industry" was presented on the morning of July 8, 2017. Prof. Zeyang Xia hosted the roundtable discussion.
